Smashburger will open first Alaska location this month

Denver-based Smashburger will soon be the newest restaurant chain to debut in Alaska.

Fast-casual Smashburger will open its first Alaska location on Aug. 24 in a 2,200-square-foot space at 317 W. 104th Ave. in South Anchorage, near O'Malley Road and C Street. It will be the first of three locations in the state, the company said in a news release.

The company has more than 340 locations across the U.S. and other countries where customers can order sandwiches, salads, shakes, beer and other items in addition to burgers.

Smashburger will follow other recent openings of national chain restaurants in Anchorage, including Panda Express at the end of last year and BurgerFi in 2014.
