Troopers investigate Willow woman’s death

Detectives are investigating a Willow woman's death, Alaska State Troopers said Tuesday.

Hattie Labuff-Kilgo, 56, was found deceased on Tuesday in the community of Petersville, around 12:30 p.m., troopers said in an online statement.

Troopers had responded to Labuff-Kilgo's home Monday morning for a welfare check, after she failed to show up for work. Detectives determined that she had gone to Petersville, about 80 miles north of Willow, on Saturday.

Her 2011 GMC pickup truck was found on Petersville Road, about 35 miles from the Parks Highway, troopers said.

Search and rescue crews responded to the area Tuesday morning. Labuff-Kilgo's body was found about three miles from her truck, troopers said.

Next of kin had been notified Tuesday, troopers said. Labuff-Kilgo's body was being sent to the State Medical Examiner Office for autopsy, and the investigation was ongoing Tuesay, troopers said.
