A 19-year-old woman died and a man was seriously injured when their snowmachine crashed into a berm at the end of the Port Alsworth runway on Sunday, a spokesman for the Alaska State Troopers said.
The incident was reported to troopers just before 1 p.m.
Community members and a health aide responded and found Alexia Wolfson of Chugiak without a pulse, troopers said. She was pronounced dead at a clinic in Port Alsworth, a village on Lake Clark in Southwest Alaska.
A man was also seriously injured, and troopers said he was flown to an Anchorage hospital.
Troopers said they are investigating what caused the collision.
