In a special meeting Friday evening, the Anchorage Assembly will deliberate over which member will serve as acting mayor when Mayor Ethan Berkowitz’s resignation takes effect at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

City charter states that the Assembly chair will serve as acting mayor during a vacancy. The current chair is Felix Rivera, but during Friday’s meeting, Assembly members may select a new chair who will then become acting mayor.
