Police on Thursday identified the man struck and killed by a pickup while crossing a street in Midtown Anchorage last week as 59-year-old Kim Terhune.

Terhune was crossing Northern Lights Boulevard outside of any crosswalk just before 10:30 p.m. March 25 when the truck westbound near Eagle Street struck him, police said. He died at the scene.

Terhune was one of at least five pedestrians hit by a vehicle in about a week’s time.

A woman struck by a pickup on Fifth Avenue at Karluk Street early March 19 died at the scene.

Two men crossing Gambell Street near 15th Avenue the night of March 20 were hit by a pickup and injured, one seriously, but both survived, police said this week.

Early the morning of March 24, a woman struck by a cargo van while walking across Fifth Avenue at Ingra Street was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

In all the collisions, drivers remained at the scene. There have been no charges filed yet in any of those cases, police said Thursday.
