Pedestrian struck by pickup truck in Midtown suffers serious injuries

Police say a male pedestrian suffered what were believed to be life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a pickup truck in Midtown Anchorage on Monday afternoon.

The man was hospitalized, the Anchorage Police Department said. Officers were called to the scene at Arctic and West Benson boulevards just before 3:45 p.m. The man “entered the roadway” and was struck by the truck that was eastbound on Benson, police said in an update. He was not in a crosswalk, they said.

The driver remained on the scene, a police spokeswoman said by email. No additional information was immediately available.

The department’s major collision investigations unit was processing the scene Monday afternoon using a drone, police said.

The pickup driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said. An investigation continues.
