73-year-old man charged with murder in stabbing of 71-year-old woman

Update 9 a.m. Thursday:

Anchorage police on Thursday identified the victim of the stabbing as Rose Warren, 71.

Wednesday story:

A woman is dead from stab wounds and a 73-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fight early Wednesday in a South Anchorage residence, police said.

Officers around 1:30 a.m. were called to the 8800 block of Cordell Circle in the Jewel Lake area on a report of a stabbing and found a woman critically injured with multiple wounds, according to an online police report.

The woman was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officers took Robert Thomas into custody for questioning. He was subsequently charged with first- and second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, police said.

No further details were immediately available. The victim’s name will be released pending notification of kin, police said.
