No charges filed yet in downtown Anchorage shooting that left 21-year-old man dead

Police on Monday said a 21-year-old man was shot to death in downtown Anchorage early Saturday in an incident that left another man seriously wounded.

Officers were called to the large parking lot on West Third Avenue between G and H Streets around 3:19 a.m. for a report of gunfire, police said. The man, identified as Louis Talo, died at the scene, according to police. Another man, who has not been identified, was brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

While police interviewed multiple people, no charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad said. She did not provide additional details, citing the ongoing homicide investigation. She said there was no threat to public safety.

The parking lot where the shooting occurred is located about a block from the Anchorage Police Department headquarters. Police investigated a homicide during December that unfolded in a nearby parking lot. Brodie Smith, 30, died in the hospital six days after he was beaten in the parking lot, according to charges filed in the case.
