Police arrest 2 in shooting that injured man in West Anchorage

One man was hurt and two people have been taken into custody after a shooting in West Anchorage, police said Friday evening.

Anchorage police responded to a report of a shooting at the 3100 block of West 30th Avenue just before 5 p.m. Friday, police said in an online statement. Police said initial indications were that a group of people were involved in “an altercation” outside, and that one person “pulled out a gun and discharged it.”

One man was injured and is being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, police said.

Police took two men into custody, they said, and believe they’ve contacted everyone involved in the incident. The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation, police said.
