AK Quarantunes: Tim and Rumi Smith, ‘Songs in Praise of Beauty’

Rumi and Dr. Timothy Smith are well known as educators in Anchorage -- in addition to their private studios, Rumi is an adjunct professor and Tim is a professor and senior associate dean for the UAA College of Arts and Sciences in the Department of Music. They are also frequent collaborators and have presented virtuosic performances in Anchorage and on tours abroad.

Here they perform “Songs in Praise of Beauty” for two pianos, by contemporary Japanese composer Yoshinao Nakada (1923-2000).

For more: Smith’s solo recording, “Timothy Smith plays Liszt,” has been released nationally by Albany Records and is currently available online at MSR Classics, and also on iTunes.
