People walk past "Measure of a Warrior" on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, the third place finisher in the Crystal Gallery of Ice. The sculpture was created by Keven Laughlin and Mark Chapin for the annual ice-carving competition hosted by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership at Town Square Park. Carvers began work on Friday and transformed ice into art for Sunday's judging.

Cold winter evenings below freezing have helped preserve the recently completed and judged ice sculptures entered in the annual ice carving competition "Crystal Gallery of Ice" hosted by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership at Town Square Park.
