Letter: Callous comments

I just read Elaine Pfeiffer and Mark Derosier’s recent letters and had to reply.

The comment attributed to Trump referring to deceased American soldiers as “losers” and “suckers” is entirely in character, whether the source is anonymous or public. I can understand why someone reporting such a comment would want to remain anonymous, avoiding the inevitable personal attacks by Trump.

Ms. Pfeiffer and Mr. Derosier both credited Sarah Huckabee Sanders as “proof” that Trump didn’t say those words. But that has two flaws, one being that she was employed by Trump as his “spin doctor” and the other, more telling flaw is that the best she can say is that she didn’t hear Trump say that. Sanders' statement proves absolutely nothing. We all heard Trump say denigrating things about John McCain, even after he had passed, and no amount of spin can erase those comments. Again, Trump’s callous and nasty comments are totally in character for him.
