Letter: Roe v. Wade

The recent story about a 10-year-old victim of rape who became pregnant, and crossed state lines to get an abortion, should get at least some attention. Victims of incest potentially face a similar fate.

As an attorney, the very concept of the current U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade is appalling (particularly given certain justices’ sworn testimony before their appointment to the Court). Even more appalling is that the same Court would force a 10-year old victim of rape to give birth to an unwanted child — at the age of 10 years old.  That, in my opinion, is indefensible and unconstitutional. And if 10-year-old males (or adult males, for that matter) could get pregnant via rape or incest, I suspect the rules would be different.
