Letter: Fully fund schools

Gov. Mike Dunleavy and the Republican-led House majority coalition are doing nothing to convince 21st century job-creating companies to relocate to Alaska and nothing to discourage the best and the brightest of our young people from leaving for better-paying jobs outside.

No business would ever consider relocating to Alaska when classrooms are overcrowded, schools are closing, and teachers can’t save enough for retirement. Likewise, smart young Alaskans are leaving in droves because there are no jobs for them here. The time is now. Call the governor, your senator and your representative, and demand that they fully fund our schools, provide for our teachers and encourage young people to stay. Alaska’s future depends on it.
