Letters to the Editor

Letter: Bridges for mining

I read with interest the column on bridges for a mining company on the Alaska Highway. Does the commentary writer, Dirk Tordoff, realize that the Alaska Railroad was built with federal money? The intent was to transport personnel and mining equipment from the saltwater port of Seward to the mining town of Fairbanks. That was more than 100 years ago.

Was it worth it?
