VIDEO: ‘Racin’ bacon’ at the Alaska State Fair

Ten-week-old Duroc pigs sprinted around a track during the Kenai Peninsula Racing Pigs event at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer on Sunday. The pigs have been training their whole lives for the biennial fair event. As adults, the animals can grow to be 800 pounds.

"We tell all the pigs if they race well, they're going to a luau in Hawaii. If they don't race well, we are sending them down to Porky's for pork chop on a stick," said co-trainer Lara McGinnis with a smile. Labor Day, Monday Sept. 3, is the last day of the fair.
