Stolen stove leaves Willow home flooded with 200 gallons of heating oil

A thief or thieves who stole an installed Toyo stove from a home in Willow last week caused heating oil to flood the house, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers were called to a house on Long Lake Road Friday to investigate a reported burglary, AST said in an online dispatch Saturday.

Troopers found that someone had broken into the home and stolen a Toyo stove — and hadn't plugged the heating oil line, letting 200 gallons of oil flood the dwelling.

Troopers estimated the damage at $5,000.

No one has been arrested in the case. If you have information about the incident or suspicious activity in the area of Long Lake Road, call trooper dispatch at 907-352-5401 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 907-745-3333.
