Wasilla man accused of sexual assault during home invasion

A Wasilla man was held on multiple charges after he broke into a woman's residence and sexually assaulted her early Sunday, police said.

Stephan Ivanoff, 24, was accused of first-degree burglary, second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree assault in the case, according to a post on the Wasilla Police Department's Facebook page. Ivanoff was taken into custody after police responded at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday to a "home invasion" at a local residence.

"The victim reported that a male had entered her house and touched her," police wrote. "Upon arrival, officers learned from the victim that the male had made sexual contact with her."

Responding officers were able to find Ivanoff near the scene.

"Officers caught (Ivanoff) after a brief foot pursuit through the woods," police wrote. "The victim did not know Ivanoff and had never seen him before this incident."

Ivanoff was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was held on $50,000 bail with a court-approved third-party custodian required for his release.
