State hockey tournament begins this week

The First National Cup state hockey championships return to Wasilla this week with eight teams bidding for the Class 4A crown and four teams playing for the Greatland championship for small schools at the Curtis Menard Memorial Sports Complex.

Thursday

Class 4A first round

Noon — Lathrop vs. East

2:30 p.m. — Dimond vs. West Valley

5 p.m. — Palmer vs. Service

7:30 p.m. — South vs. Wasilla

Semifinals

5:30 p.m. — Dimond-West Valley winner vs. Palmer-Service winner

8 p.m. — Lathrop-East winner vs. South-Wasilla winner

10:15 a.m. — Lathrop-East loser vs. South-Wasilla loser

12:30 p.m. — Tri-Valley vs. Monroe
