Fishing boat aground in Southeast, crew safe so far

The 100-foot fishing vessel Oregon, based in Lopez, Wash., has run aground in Kelp Bay off Chatham Strait near Angoon in Southeast Alaska, the Coast Guard said today.

Five people are reported on board, and the boat was listing but not taking on water this morning. Those on board all have life jackets.

The Oregon is carrying 6,000 gallons of fuel, a Coast Guard spokesman said, but no pollution was reported.

The Coast Guard was sending a cutter from Auke Bay to help.
