1923 gift from Fairbanks to President Harding stolen in Ohio

A dog collar commemorating President Warren G. Harding's July 1923 visit to Fairbanks is among items stolen overnight from the Harding Home in Marion, Ohio, police there say.

From The Columbus Dispatch:

The dog collar was made in 1923 especially for Laddie Boy, the president's Airedale terrier. "Laddie Boy" is written in raised letters on the center of the collar, and a heart on the side bears the words "From Alaska's golden heart." Another heart reads, "Fairbanks July 16 1923."

[Marion Police Lt. Mark] Beaschler said police are circulating photographs of the dog collar quickly in case it pops up for sale in a shop or online.

He didn't have a value for the collar.
