Letter: Prayer won't end abortion; sex education has helped

Joann Pantages' Saturday Compass (another rant on freedom of choice and abortion) is a classic example of why American settlers fled Europe and England during the 1600s. The world needed a place beyond religious domination, a place where individuals may choose their own paths and escape the odious wrathful dominating practices of great churches. Americans however were forgiving. Religious freedom was established believing the meddling would end in the new world. We failed.

Prayer will not end abortion. Better sex education however has made great inroads. I, for one, promise not to picket churches. I will pray for better sex education and continued freedom of choice. It's the American way. In the end, the public can decide which of the two schemes are the most effective.
