Letter: Thanks to kind couple, but many drivers have lost Alaska manners

I would like to thank the couple who took the time to turn around on the Glenn Highway near Eureka and stop to see if they could help me on Sunday. I had a vapor lock in my RV and totally lost power and steering before I could get completely onto the shoulder.

I was dismayed and angry when more than one motorist didn't slow down and honked at me for "being in the way" when I had no option to move — including the person speeding around the corner who blared their horn. I even had flares out — do these drivers not know this means slow down? At least 10 vehicles passed me before anyone stopped to offer help. What happened to Alaskans helping each other?
