Friday's American Legion baseball report

Dimond Post 21 racked 15 hits Friday and throttled West Post 1 in a 13-2 American Legion baseball victory at Kosinski Fields.

Lucas Thorp earned a win, striking out three in a complete-game effort that ended after five-innings due to mercy rule. Thorp also notched three hits and drove in three runs for Dimond, which received three singles, two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases from Toni Bost. Tony Hillman contributed two singles, two runs and two RBIs.

John Gutsch singled and scored for West, and Jacob Hillowitz added a single for the Eagles.

Service nabs first win

Behind the stellar pitching of Karson Frisk, Service Post 28 earned its first victory in the Battle of Omaha American Legion baseball tournament in Nebraska, a 2-1 triumph over Post 121 Green Wave of Benson Park, Neb.

Frisk threw five scoreless innings to start the game, allowing one hit and striking out two. A two run double from Mike Perez scored Ryan Bailey and Zach Cuddihy to account for the Service offense.

Matt Yandell closed the game to earn a save for the Cougars, who are 1-3 in tournament play.
