Saturday in the Alaska Baseball League

Goldpanners 5, Pilots 1

The Fairbanks Goldpanners waited for the 10th inning to get the offense going, but it was good enough to nail down a 5-1 win and knock off the Anchorage Glacier Pilots for the second straight day at Mulcahy Stadium.

The win also moved the Goldpanners into solo first place, a half game ahead of the Anchorage Bucs, who lost to the Peninsula Oilers on Saturday.

Kyle Herrington jump started the Goldpanners' 10th-inning rally with a double, and Alex Rubanowitz followed with another double to plate Herrington. David Fletcher added an RBI-single later in the inning, and, along with Nick Catalano, scored on a wild pitch.

Goldpanners reliever Matt Milke struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th to picked up his first win. He struck out five in four inning of work.

The Goldpanners' comeback victory included an eighth-inning RBI-single from Rick Reigner that tied the score at 1-1 and helped overcome a stellar outing from Pilots starter Michael RoBards, who struck out 10 and left with one out in the top of the eighth inning.

Jacob Rice scored the Pilots' only run on a double from Lance Berringer in the third inning.
