1 dead, 2 hurt in East Anchorage pickup rollover

A 32-year-old woman was killed and two others hurt, one badly, in a single-vehicle accident in East Anchorage early Friday, Anchorage police said.

The person killed was identified as Marcia Mausali.

Police said the driver, Andre Clinton, 29, lost control of the Chevrolet Avalanche pickup he was driving eastbound on Commercial Drive around 2 a.m. It happened between Chipperfield Drive and Industrial Way, north of the Glenn Highway and where Commercial Drive begins a curve that eventually becomes Mountain View Drive.

The vehicle rolled multiple times, said police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro. Police were called at 2:16 a.m., and when officers arrived they found Clinton and one of the passengers, Marcia Mausali, had been ejected and a third person, Diana Mausali, 36, still in the pickup.

All three were taken to the hospital, where Marcia Mausali was pronounced dead, Castro said. Clinton suffered life-threatening injuries, she said.

Diana Mausali suffered minor injuries, police said.

"Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident," Castro said in an email.

Neither Marcia Mausali nor Clinton was wearing a seat belt, Castro said. Diana Mausali was wearing a seat belt, she said.
