Pilots 2, Oilers 0
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots needed three pitchers to shutout the Peninsula Oilers at Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai on Thursday.
Pilots starter Kyle Porter pitched seven innings to improve his record to 2-3. Sean Adler pitched the eighth inning and Brendan McCurry took care of the ninth, striking out the final batter for his sixth save.
Brody Russell set the tone for the Pilots early, ripping a solo home run in the first inning. First baseman Kewby Meyer drove in an insurance run with a sixth-inning single.
The Pilots win spoiled a solid complete game from Oilers starter Sam Moore, who struck out three and allowed eight hits. Five players notched hits for the Oilers.
Bucs 8, Chinooks 3
Held scoreless through five innings, the Anchorage Bucs rattled off eight runs in the final four to rally past the Chugiak Chinooks 8-2 at Loretta French Field on Thursday.
The Bucs put up two runs in the sixth inning to erase the Chinooks' 2-0 lead. They took their first lead on a two-run triple from David Andriese that highlighted a three-run eighth inning. A two-run double from Collin Ferguson and an RBI-double from Matt Daugherty gave the Bucs three more runs in the ninth inning.
Bucs starter Brennan Henry pitched into the ninth inning for a win, giving way to closer Trevor Renfro for the final two outs.
Tyler Krahn and Griffin Gum scored the Chugiak runs on a single by Ryan Shackelford in the fourth inning. Shackelford also scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth.
