Aces' Brossoit ECHL goalie of the week; no similar love for Sivak

Not unexpectedly -- hey, the dude hasn't given up an ECHL goal -- Alaska Aces goaltender Laurent Brossoit this morning was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Week.

Brossoit, a rookie, pitched consecutive shutouts against the Bakersfield Condors in his first two ECHL starts. He stopped 16 shots in Saturday's 5-0 win and 16 more in Sunday's sweep-clinching 4-0 win.

Also, when Mark Guggenberger suffered a skate problem late in Friday's 6-3 win, Brossoit came off the bench to stop all eight shots in faced.

To recap, he has faced 40 ECHL shots. He has not allowed one to enter his net.

So, he doesn't have a goals-against average. His save percentage is 1.000.

On the Player of the Week front, Aces winger Peter Sivak was named runner-up -- after going 4-6--10 and +10 in those three wins against the Condors.

The award went to Wade Megan of the Cincinnati Cyclones, who went 6-3--9 and +6 in three wins.

In other ECHL news, the Reading Royals have received winger Tyler Ruegsegger, the former Ace, on loan from AHL Hershey, where he was 0-1--1 and -2 in eight games.

Lot of Alaska connections in defending Kelly Cup champion Reading: Former Aces center Ethan Cox, (briefly) former Aces defenseman Bryant Molle of Anchorage (brother of Aces defenseman Dustin Molle), former UAA winger Sean Wiles and former UAF defenseman Aaron Gens.
