Prep wrestling: South, Colony, Kodiak claim titles

Kraig Hammond earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award Saturday after winning his weight class to help South collect the team championship at the eight-team John Tobin Invitational in North Pole.

South produced six individual champions and three runners-up to cruise to the team title with 234 points. Wasilla was second with 179.5.

Knights rule own meet

Colony overwhelmed the field to claim the team title at its own eight-team wrestling tournament Saturday.

The Knights racked up 227.5 points to beat runnerup Kenai by 90 points. They boasted eight of the meet's 15 individual champions.
