Troopers say a Wasilla woman tried to flee a DUI stop by pulling into her garage and shutting the door early Sunday morning, and then fought police trying to arrest her.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, troopers tried to pull over a vehicle driven by Natasha Bowers, 36, according to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch posted online.
Bowers pulled into a driveway on Carlsbad Place in Wasilla, and then tried to close the garage door, troopers said.
Troopers said they entered the garage and found the woman.
"Investigation revealed that Bowers was driving impaired by alcohol. Upon arrest Bowers fought to escape detention, but was eventually taken into custody," the dispatch said. "Bowers subsequently refused to provide a breath sample for testing."
Bowers was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where she faces charges of DUI, failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer and resisting arrest.
