Prep basketball: Boys and girls results from Saturday

Dimond 62, West 61

Austin Osborne sunk two free throws at the end of the game to help Dimond survived a big West comeback and take a 62-61 Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball victory Saturday at Dimond.

West outscored the Lynx 18-8 in the final quarter to make things exciting.

Osborne finished with nine points and six rebounds for Dimond. Muhamed Cole led the Lynx with 20 points, three steals and three assists, and Zach Deloney added 17 points.

West could have won had it made its free throws -- the Eagles were 17 of 28 at the line. Brandon Huffman registered a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double with five steals for West, but he was 1 of 6 from the free throw line.

East 74, Bartlett 68

Desmond Johnson's double-double fueled East's 74-68 CIC win over Bartlett on Saturday.

Johnson piled up 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Thunderbirds, who had three other players score in double figures -- Brayton Keith (12), Louis Bonner (10) and Haney Jacobo (10).

Bartlett got a boost from Kage Freelove (15 points) and Payton Fullmer (14).

Service 67, Eagle River 53

Reece Robinson scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half Saturday to held Service to an early big lead in a 67-53 CIC win over Eagle River.

The Cougars led 40-21 at the half and 53-30 after three quarters. Eagle River won the fourth quarter 23-14.

Alaini Collins scored 15 points and Daniel Dirscherl 14 for Eagle River. Pindo Drammeh added 12 points for Service.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

West 69, Dimond 66

Marshala Eady racked up 20 points and 16 rebounds Saturday to lead the West girls to a 69-66 CIC win over host Dimond.

Chanel Bookert also poured in 20 points for West, and she and Eady scored a combined 17 points on free throws. West hit 29 of 44 free throws to Dimond's 6 of 17.

Dimond lost despite a 58-46 rebounding advantage. Dehja Canty grabbed 14 rebounds to go with 16 points, Justine Anderson contributed 12 rebounds, and Nikki Forney had 11 rebounds and 13 points.

Tara Thompson was the scoring leader with 21 points for Dimond.

Chugiak 55, South 37

Anna Ingraham's 11 points and 10 rebounds helped Chugiak cruise to a 55-37 CIC win over visiting South on Saturday.

Brandy Bookout added 13 points and Hannah Russell 10 for the Mustangs. Taylor Murray's 22 points sparked South.
