Pound of marijuana, firearms seized in Barrow drug investigation

Police seized more than a pound of marijuana, hundreds of dollars and a firearm from a Barrow residence on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal bootlegging and drug importation to the North Slope, the borough police department said.

Early Monday morning, officers served a search warrant at an apartment on North Star Street and found 23-year-old Kyle Bodfish with a 19-year-old woman and their, the North Slope Borough Police Department said in an email statement.

Police also found, and seized, more than one pound of marijuana, three scales, packaging material, $300 in cash, drug paraphernalia and a firearm that was allegedly acquired through a trade with a minor.

Bodfish was arrested on two counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance, both felonies. He posted bail Monday evening, according to court documents.

Police Chief Leon Boyea said he could not say what prompted the police to obtain the search warrant, citing an upcoming trial.
