As part of a training exercise, soldiers at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will detonate several explosive charges daily this week, according to a statement from the U.S. Army Alaska.
Army officials are warning residents living on and near JBER that they may hear "loud booms" between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Friday, the statement said.
The training exercise began Monday morning for the soldiers from the 716th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company. The company is responsible for detecting explosives and disposing of them.
