Team Alaska wrapped up the week-long Junior National cross-country ski championships by claiming two medals in Saturday's relay races in Soda Springs, California.
The U16 boys team of Luke Jager, Ti Donaldson and Canyon Tobin grabbed the gold medal. They combined for a winning time of 21 minutes, 39.6 seconds to forge a 5.5-second win over New England in the 3x2-kilometer classic race.
The U20 girls team of Sarissa Lammers, Hannah Stevens and Taryn Hunt-Smith claimed silver in its race, finishing in 26:23.4 -- 24.8 seconds behind the Midwest Division champions.
In the U18 girls race, the team of Lydia Blanchet, Emma Tarbath and Anna Darnell placed fourth in 26:56.5, 11.1 seconds behind the bronze-medal-winning team.
Also placing fourth was the team of Seigi Takagi, Alex Loan and Thomas O'Harra, whose time of 23:29.9 was 14.4 seconds off the podium in the U20 boys race.
Fifth-place finishes were posted by the U16 girls team of Zoe Hancock, Abby Amick and Molly Gellert; the U16 boys team of Gus Schumacher, Andrew Hull and Colin Lease; and the U18 boys team of Hunter Wonders, Connor Truskowski and Riley Bickford.
The U16 girls finished 22.2 seconds behind the third-place team and the U16 boys were nearly a minute off the winning pace set by Jager, Donaldson and Tobin.
The U18 boys team missed the podium by 3.4 seconds.
