East Anchorage SWAT standoff suspect charged

Anchorage police have identified the man charged after a Thursday evening SWAT standoff as 24-year-old Brandon Kendrick.

Kendrick was arrested at the scene -- Taku Drive near the Davis Street intersection in East Anchorage -- after the two-hour standoff. He was charged with criminal mischief and "tampering with official proceedings."

His bail was set at $1,000, police said.

An investigation of the incident found Kendrick and the female got into an argument at an apartment building on Taku Drive, police said.

"When Kendrick left the residence, the female fired off a round from a BB gun outside," police said. "Kendrick attempted to go back to the residence in which the female locked him out of. Kendrick broke a window to make entry into the home."

Neighbors called police and said they heard what sounded like a gunshot and a man breaking a window.

No one was injured during the standoff, police said.
