A mid-morning fire that began in a Butte workshop Wednesday morning spread briefly to nearby woods before being contained by firefighters, Mat-Su emergency officials said.
Multiple neighbors reported the fire, which started in a 10-foot-by-16-foot shop next to a home, at about 8:15 a.m., Ken Barkley, Mat-Su Emergency Services deputy director of fire and rescue said.
The blaze didn't damage the nearby house, but instead spread from a shop to the nearby woodlands, requiring a response from the Alaska Division of Forestry.
Firefighters from Sutton, Butte, Palmer, and Central Emergency Services also responded and were able to contain the fire in about 20 minutes.
Crews were locating hot spots shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.
The fire's cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
