Hour-long Seward Highway closures expected to cause nightly delays

Drivers can expect delays up to an hour on the Seward Highway, beginning just south of the Hope Highway turnoff as construction crews begin night work next week.

From July 27 until Aug. 27, from 9:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. the road will close daily at Mile 52 in order to allow crews to work on "installing a large cross pipe, which requires the entire roadway to be open," DOT wrote in a release.

At Mile 99 to Mile 100 drivers can expect similar delays just south of Bird Creek. According to DOT, the closure is expected from 9:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on July 28 and July 30.

"These closures are part of repaving and safety improvement projects on the Seward Highway," DOT said.
