Senate committee wants your 2 cents on Gov. Walker's Permanent Fund plan

Is Gov. Bill Walker's legislation to restructure the Alaska Permanent Fund a raid on residents' dividend checks? Or is it the only way to guarantee the dividend program exists in perpetuity?

Sen. Bill Stoltze, R-Chugiak, and his Senate State Affairs Committee want to know what you think. They're taking statewide public testimony on Walker's bill, Senate Bill 128, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The bill is aimed at fixing the state's $3.8 billion budget deficit, though it also would reduce Alaskans' dividend checks.

To testify, sign in at your local legislative information office. The LIO in Anchorage is at 716 W. Fourth Ave. For a list of other LIO locations, visit http://akleg.gov/lios.php.
