Photos: Snow Goose, Sleeping Lady Brewing change hands

The Snow Goose Restaurant and Sleeping Lady Brewing Company is closing its doors after almost 20 years in business.

Owner Gary Klopfer said the restaurant's last night under current ownership will be Saturday, Dec. 26, when the comedy improv troupe Scared Scriptless is scheduled to perform. From there, owners Jason Motyka and David McCarthy of 49th State Brewing Company, based in Healy, will take over the downtown location and brewery.

Klopfer said while the restaurant is closing, some events will still be held in the space during renovations. He said the Fur Rendezvous Melodrama, set for late February, would be hosted in the space.

The restaurant opened in downtown Anchorage in 1996, alongside a group of other brewpubs in the downtown and Ship Creek neighborhoods that included the still-in-operation Glacier Brewhouse. The restaurant was known for its popular deck overlooking Knik Arm and Mount Susitna.
