East gets past Service, Dimond sweeps Bartlett in CIC volleyball

Grace 3, Nikiski 2

Kaitlin Cowell served five aces, handed out 32 assists and smashed five kills Friday to power the Grace Christian volleyball team to a tense five-set victory over Nikiski.

The Grizzlies won 20-25, 26-24, 11-25, 25-12, 15-13 in the Class 3A match in Nikiski.

Annie VanderWeide provided 15 kills, two aces and one block and Rachel Thompson added nine kills and six blocks to help keep Grace Christian undefeated in conference play.

Dimond 3, Bartlett 0

The Dimond volleyball team rode Alissa Pili's 17 kills and 17 digs to a sweep of Bartlett in a Cook Inlet Conference match Friday at Bartlett. The Lynx won 25-19, 25-19, 25-22.

Maya Carle came up with 23 digs, Teuila Lolotai added 12 digs and 23 assists and Madeleine LaPorte contributed six kills and five blocks for the Lynx.

Bartlett's Leanna Atafua handed out 28 assists to spark on offense that got 14 kills from Paia Togagae and 10 from Kendra Camell.

East 3, Service 1

Karlee Lynde's nine kills and two blocks fueled East's four-set win over Service in a Friday night CIC volleyball match.

Daisy Page also blasted nine kills and Leona Tau'ese provided 24 digs for East in the 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21 victory.

Erin Davis had a good game for Service with four kills and four blocks. Karisa Davis added six kills and Devyn Fish had 13 digs for the Cougars.
