2 drivers killed, passenger hurt in Kenai collision

Two people died in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Kenai, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Theodore Knutson, 34, of Kenai was driving a Chevrolet HHR southbound when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a GMC Yukon driven by Albert Brunner, 63, of Soldotna.

Troopers responded to the crash, near the intersection of Kalifornsky Beach Road and Diamond M Ranch Road, around 3 p.m.

Knutson and Brunner were pronounced dead on scene. A passenger in the Yukon was hospitalized with serious injuries, troopers said.

Troopers said those in both vehicles were wearing seat belts.

An investigation is continuing, troopers said.
