Woman’s body found in woods near Klawock

Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a wooded area near the Southeast Alaska community of Klawock Sunday evening.

A Monday dispatch said that the remains, tentatively identified as those of 27-year-old Judylee Guthrie of Hydaburg, were first reported to troopers just before 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

"The state medical examiner has been notified and has requested the victim's remains be sent to the state medical examiner's office in Anchorage for autopsy and positive identification," troopers wrote.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said no further details on the nature of Guthrie's death were immediately available Monday morning.

Guthrie's family has been notified.

Correction: This story originally identified Judylee Guthrie as Jodylee Guthrie.
