Semi driver dies when load crushes cab after collision with rock wall

A driver died Wednesday when a semi truck struck a rock wall near Moose Pass, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Marc Roderick, 46, of Anchor Point, was driving a 2007 Kenworth northbound on the Seward Highway when it went off the road and hit the wall near Mile 33. Troopers responded around 2:43 p.m.

An excavator the truck was hauling pitched forward and crushed the driver’s cab, troopers said.

Roderick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators had not yet determined what caused the crash but said the highway was snowy.
