Magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits north of Anchorage

An earthquake with a reviewed magnitude of 4.0 struck north of Anchorage on Saturday evening, seismologists at the Alaska Earthquake Center said.

The earthquake, which hit about 13 miles north of Anchorage at 4:58 p.m., is the first aftershock weigh in at a magnitude of at least 4.0 since another 4.0 quake erupted from the same fault patch on March 23.

The quake was about 25 miles deep, seismologists said.

Seismologists have previously said they expect aftershocks from the 7.1 Nov. 30 earthquake to continue until November of this year.
