Anchorage cab driver dies in single-vehicle collision, police say

A man driving a cab in Anchorage on Wednesday night died after he hit a light pole on 15th Avenue near Medfra Street, police say.

The man, who has not been identified, had no passengers with him at the time and no other vehicles were involved, police said early Thursday. Officers and Anchorage Fire Department medics responded to a report of the single-vehicle collision just before 11:15 p.m.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No additional details were immediately available.
