Driver dies in head-on collision in West Anchorage

A man died early Tuesday in a head-on collision near Kincaid Park in West Anchorage, police said.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was driving a Toyota pickup east on Kincaid Road just after 12:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Hyundai SUV between Westpark Drive and Park West Circle, police said. He died at the scene.

A passenger in the pickup and both people in the SUV were taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening, police said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation and no charges were immediately filed, they said.

Kincaid Road was closed for roughly eight hours to allow investigators access to the scene.
