Police investigate break-in at Alaska Rep. Don Young's Anchorage office

Police are investigating a break-in at U.S. Rep. Don Young's office in Anchorage earlier this week.

Officers responded to an office building off B Street in Midtown at 7:13 a.m. Feb. 1 in reference to a burglary, said Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Renee Oistad.

Police determined several offices in the building had been broken into, Oistad said. The culprits forced their way past some of the building's locked doors, she said.

"Some items were taken such as clothing and an MP3 player," Oistad said.

Young's spokesman Matthew Shuckerow confirmed the building houses the representative's local congressional office, and it was among those broken into.

Shuckerow said the Federal Protective Service and local police are investigating.

"It's important to note that no private or confidential information was compromised," Shuckerow said. "Further, it does not appear that Congressman Young's office was specifically targeted."
