Fourth suspect charged in Christmas Eve killing of Anchorage couple

A fourth suspect in an Anchorage armed robbery that became a double homicide on Christmas Eve now faces charges in the Mountain View death of a married couple, according to prosecutors.

Savon Wiley, 22, was arrested Sunday by Anchorage police, Anchorage District Attorney Clint Campion said in a statement Monday. Wiley was indicted by a grand jury on two counts each of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the deaths of Christopher and Danielle Brooks, who were shot to death at their Peterkin Avenue apartment on Dec. 24.

Three other defendants, arrested in the days after the deaths — Lamarkus Jayquann Mann, 22; Jaylyn Deonte Franklin, 20; and DeAnthony Malik Harris, 19 — face similar charges. Prosecutors in December mentioned a fourth suspect, a driver in the robbery, but didn't name that person at the time.

A copy of the indictment did not specify Wiley's alleged role in the Brookses' deaths.

"The Anchorage Police Department Homicide Unit developed Wiley as a suspect in the alleged robbery which led to the homicides," Campion wrote.

Danielle Brooks' 5-year-old son told responding officers that " 'ninjas' had come into his house, told him to go into his room, and killed his family," according to an earlier affidavit in the case. Danielle Brooks was found dead inside the home, and Christopher outside the building; he was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Court records showed Wiley's bail was initially set at $250,000 plus a $250,000 cash bond, with a court-approved third-party custodian required for his release. He remained in custody Monday morning at the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
