Troopers seek man in connection with Wasilla homicides

Alaska State Troopers are searching for a 51-year-old man they believe might be connected to what they are describing as a triple homicide in Wasilla this month.

Juan Camarena was last seen in the Big Lake area, troopers wrote in an online alert. He’s described as a person of interest in the Nov. 2 triple homicide off Knik Goose Bay and Knik Knack Mud Shack roads in Wasilla and should be considered dangerous, troopers wrote. He is wanted for questioning.

Troopers have not said why they believe Camarena is involved. In the report, troopers describe Camarena as Hispanic, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

The troopers’ Special Emergency Reaction Team searched for Camarena near West Hollywood Road and Medora Cross in Big Lake on Monday morning. Spokesman Tim DeSpain said investigators used a helicopter and an armored military-style BearCat vehicle during their search.

Troopers began investigating the deaths of Michael Attwood, 25 of Big Lake, and Donna Marie Campos, 37 of Wasilla, on Nov. 3, and found the body of Alyssa Jimenez, 28, of Big Lake, several days later. Jimenez was initially reported as missing.

Troopers are asking anyone with information about Camarena to call MatCom Dispatch at 907-352-5401.
