A Big Lake woman died after she was struck by a motorcycle on a paved walking trail Monday, Alaska State Troopers said.
Brendan Clark, 19, of Anchorage, was driving a Yamaha dirt bike on a path in Big Lake “at a high rate of speed” when he struck 79-year-old Nadara Williams just before 4:30 p.m., troopers said. It is not legal to drive dirt bikes or other off-highway vehicles on walking paths.
Troopers and medics were called and Williams was transported to a hospital, but she died from injuries Tuesday, troopers spokesman Austin McDaniel said.
Clark had minor injuries that were treated on scene, McDaniel said.
He was cited for operating an off-highway vehicle in an area intended for pedestrians. Court records show he paid a $120 fine. Troopers said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges were possible.
